Basic Awareness, Children and Young People
This course is open to anyone involved in activity with children or young people, or who holds a relevant or accountable position within their parish, or who is licensed or authorised in their role by the Bishop.
All courses are held at The Education Centre, Guildford Cathedral, Stag Hill, Guildford GU2 7UP
Morning Courses: 10am - 12.30pm
Afternoon Courses: 1.30pm - 4pm
Evening Courses: 7.30pm - 10pm

Safeguarding Training Notes
The Safeguarding Training Notes Information gives a brief outline of basic key information regarding safeguarding policy and practise relating to safeguarding children and young people. It is important that everyone working alongside children or vulnerable adults is aware of, and has the opportunity to read through, the full Diocesan procedures and guidance. However, this information may be downloaded for use in parishes as a brief guide and reminder for all. Printed copies can be provided at a cost of 50p each. Please click here to request these.

Basic Awareness, Adults at Risk of Harm
(previously termed Vulnerable Adults)
This training is suitable for all who are in ministry or involved in parish activity which brings them into contact with adults who are at risk of harm*.
This training will cover:
- Why Safeguarding is important
- Which adults may be vulnerable to harm
- What is the nature of harm and what are the signs and symptoms to be aware of
- What to do if you are worried about someone
- Legal considerations in respect of mental capacity and the right to decide
*An adult at risk may be a person who: is elderly and frail due to ill health, physical disability or cognitive impairment; has a learning disability; has a physical disability and / or a sensory impairment; has mental health needs including dementia or a personality disorder; has a long-term illness / condition; misuses substances or alcohol; is a carer, where the person meets the definition; is unable to demonstrate the capacity to make a decision and is in need of care and support.
