Colleges and Universities

There are three Universities within the Diocese of Guildford:  The University of Surrey (Guildford), Royal Holloway University of London (mainly in Egham) and the University of Creative Arts (Surrey campus in Farnham).

The University of Surrey has a well established chaplaincy service and the Anglican chaplain is Revd Canon Dr Andrew Bishop. Andrew can be contacted at: a.bishop@surrey.ac.uk or you might find the following website useful www.surrey-anglican-chaplaincy.org

RHUL also has a well established chaplaincy service and the Anglican chaplain is Revd Cate Irvine. RHUL is a non-denominational University with an outstanding chapel and a leading Chapel choir. Cate can be contacted at: cate.irvine@rhul.ac.uk

The University of Creative Arts has a number of campuses across the south east.  Its base in Farnham has long been an established part of local life – formally as Farnham Art College.  At present, there is no formal chaplaincy service.  The Christian Union can be contacted via the UCA Student Union website.

Degree level qualifications are also available through NESCOT, the Guildford College Group, Farnborough College of Technology and Brooklands College.  For chaplaincy links see section on Further Education.

The Board of Education has commissioned a Higher Education Group to support the work of our chaplains and engage in issues affecting the HE sector.  Contact the Diocesan Director of Education for more information.

For students looking for information about Christian groups in their chosen University or Higher Education institution see www.studentlinkup.org or www.movement.org.uk.
