Football set to unite communities in a one-day tournament
3 May 2012
Different faiths, different teams - but one game. Five-a-side teams from local churches, mosques and football clubs will share their love of football in a community tournament in Woking this spring.
Following the great success of last year's sporting challenge the charity Woking People of Faith is holding another ‘People of Faith’ football tournament at Winston Churchill School Sports Centre on Saturday 26 May 2012.
Teams will play against each other in a number of rounds, ending with the grand final after which Woking's Mayor Elect, Cllr Michael Smith, will present the trophy and medals to the winning teams. The event begins at 10am, ending with the grand final at about 3pm followed by the prize-giving. The charity is serving lunch for the players at about 1pm and a number of families are expected to attend, making it a fun day of activity and action for all. Woking People of Faith charity works to facilitate understanding of differences in faith and culture for the good of the whole of Woking’s community. The charity runs a number of events which help to build friendships, educate and serve the community.Latest News from around the Diocese
