Parish Annual Returns 2011

Every year, all parishes in the Church of England are asked to complete two Annual Returns, one for Membership (previously referred to as ‘Statistics for Mission’) and one for Finance. [These are in addition to any Return required by the Charity Commission for any PCC which is a registered charity.]

For Returns up to 2010, a form was provided (either in hard copy or as a spreadsheet), but Guildford diocese has now elected to arrange input by parishes of both sets of data online, directly into the national church database of parish returns. This means that the old forms will not be available for any year from 2011 onwards.

All parishes were asked in the Autumn of 2011 to nominate a parish contact who would be provided with details to register the parish on the database. The parish contact can then enter the relevant data or set up one or more other people to do so. At the time of writing (May 2012) fewer than a dozen parishes have not yet registered. In order to register, the nominated contact will need a parish code, a password and a simple Guide, all of which will be provided on request (to mike.bishop@cofeguildford.org.uk ).

The only place at which Membership and Finance data can be submitted to the national database is http://parishreturns.churchofengland.org/
