WW1 Resources for Schools

World War 1 Commemoration August 4th 2014 marked 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War. The acts of commemoration are expected to continue for the next four years marking various events as their centenary is reached. The Diocesan Education Team will support schools and parishes with resources and ideas to use in their community.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC)

The CWGC is now offering free guided tours for school groups in a selection of cemeteries and memorial sites, including Brookwood Cemetery in the Diocese of Guildford, to enable students to gain a greater understanding of the First and Second World Wars. The CWGC has created the programme to fit in with the latest and existing school curriculums for Key Stages 2-4. To enquire about a future visit, email education@cwgc.org
