Save money for your parish

Date: 11 February 2013
Parish Buying energy basket launched Parish Buying Energy Basket represents a significant shift in how the churches purchase electricity and gas, allowing parishes, diocesan offices, cathedrals, and church schools to pool their energy purchasing in the same way as major retailers, health trusts, local and national government and the vast majority of other significant multi-site organisations. Over the past year over 4,000 parishes have signed up to Parish Buying, and we are at the point where we have sufficient scale to launch this basket. Put simply, so far we’ve helped hundreds of parishes save money by getting the best deal for their own energy consumption. By pooling our needs, and purchasing in bulk, we expect to save a further 10% on electricity and gas costs. The basket will be administered by the Parish Buying energy consultant, maintaining a common point of contact for parishes already using the service. Our hope is that parishes never need to worry about sourcing energy again, as a bulk basket deal will always beat the best price for an individual site, and the customer service we seek to provide should be much more responsive than that given to individual sites. This basket deal is available to Church of England parishes that have energy contracts ending before September 30th 2015. There is a limited window of opportunity to join the basket (sign up required before 15th June 2013) so it is important we make parishes aware of this now.
