Face your fear so people can live a life free of fear

Date: 02 May 2014
CHRISTIAN AID NEED more supporters to join clergy and others in signing up for an abseil down Guildford Cathedral to raise money for the world’s poorest communities.

The Week, with a strapline ‘For a life Free from Fear’ will see fundraisers face their own fear and tackle the 160ft drop down the tower on Saturday 17 May.

Several people from the diocese are already committed, including a trio of clergy from the Joint Churches of Chiddingfold – the Revd Sarah Brough (St Mary’s C of E), Fr Chris Benyon (St Teresa of Avila RC) and the Revd Ian O’Herlihy (Chiddingfold Baptist Church).

Sarah said: “It’s no exaggeration to say I’m quite terrified, but it’s so important to put ourselves out of our comfort zones for those who are powerless and face uncertainty and conflict in their everyday lives.

“Please come and join me and we can face our fears together while raising funds for an excellent cause!”

Abseilers must be 11 or over and able to raise a minimum sponsorship of £100.

To sign up or for more details contact Christian Aid’s regional coordinator for Surrey, Laura Mead on 0207 523 2110 or email LMead@christian-aid.org
