Revd Nick Williams, Christ Church Guildford, has been announced as the new Area Dean for Guildford deanery, taking over the role from Canon Frank Scammell. Nick has been the vicar of Christ Church Guildford for five and half years.
Nick served his curacy at St Peter’s, Ditton in Rochester diocese before moving to Guildford in 1999, working at churches in Farnborough, Tongham. Nick is married to Anna with 3 young children and still manages to find time to play for Guildford Hockey club and help coach one of the junior teams.
Nick said: “I am honoured and excited to be asked to serve the diocese as Area Dean for Guildford deanery, to support the clergy and churches, and help develop the diocesan growth and vision strategy in this area.
“It is an exciting time to be in Guildford diocese, with the opportunity to take risks and explore new initiatives as we seek to share the life changing message of Jesus Christ with a fresh boldness, hunger and confidence in a God who saves”.
Area Deans play a key role using their detailed knowledge of parishes in the 12 Deaneries of the Diocese of Guildford to link local issues to the overall strategic development of our Diocese, reporting to the bishop on significant matters which arise in parishes.
