Parishes Children's and Youth Work Team

Introduction

We provide advice, consultation, support, training, resources and events for those involved in Children's and Youth Work across the Diocese.

The team (from right to left) consists of:

Alison Hendy Children's Work Adviser 01483 484910
Katherine Tuck Asst Children's Work Adviser 01483 484914
David Welch Youth Work Adviser 01483 484908
Christine Sweeting Children's Work Administrator 01483 484902
Elaine Waddington Youth Work Administrator 01483 484911

We can offer a quick 5 minute conversation about something small and simple, or advice about the more complex and difficult areas of ministry. From working with parents or difficult children to handling PCCs, we are able to offer a listening ear and, if you would like us to, offer advice.

If you are thinking about developing the work your church does with children and young people, we can help guide you through a process of reflection and preparation to ensure that best use is made of  resources and opportunities. From helping you to employ workers safely and legally to understanding issues about encouraging a volunteering culture within church we are here to help you and serve you however we can.

We are loosely divided into 2 sections:
Children's Work  (0-11yrs)
Youth Work  (12-25 yrs)

We are based at the Diocesan Education Centre next to Guildford Cathedral. You are welcome to come and pay us a visit anytime, but it might be wise to ring first. The Education Centre also houses the Resource Centre and the Diocesan Church Schools Support Team.
