Training
Training is one of the key things that we do to help the church to engage to its full potential with the young people around her. We offer central training that churches can send people along to as well as offering bespoke training to parishes or groups of parishes at times and locations to suit you! To stay up to date with the latest information about training courses and events, join our mailing list by getting in touch with Elaine. As a general rule, we run the Key (our 4 session basic introduction to youthwork) once a year at the Education Centre, normally in the Autumn, and Y-Train (our training event for all volunteer youth workers) at Christ’s College, again in the Autumn. David can also run the key at your parish on and evening or Saturday (though normally fewer sessions when on tour). I also offer training and PCC away days on request. Safeguarding (Child Protection) training is run by the diocesan safeguarding trainer, more details of which can be found at the bottom of the page here.
For employed workers, we offer training for first timers (in conjunction with the Children’s Work Adviser) every Monday in termtime and termly lunches and training sessions for employed workers. We also take groups away to other training events such as those run by CYM, SoulNet or others. Get in touch for more details.
If there is a training need that you have, if we can’t do it, we probably know someone who can, so do please ask!
