Ordained Local Ministers are priests like any other ordained person. They will serve in parishes, leading worship, administering the sacraments, and engaging with their local community. At the end of training, they are ordained by our diocesan Bishop alongside stipendiary or self-supporting ministers.
There is a distinctive characteristic or Ordained Local Ministers: an OLM will have been called out of a local congregation and will return to serve that same congregation rather than being nationally deployable. They will generally remain in that parish or benefice for at least the first five or six years of their ministry, if not indefinitely.
