​Growth Fund

The Growth Fund exists to enable new initiatives in the Diocese of Guildford which further the Diocesan ​strategy of Transforming Church, Transforming Lives.

Fixed Grants and Small Grants (up to £500): Applications for fixed and small grants can be made at any time – there are no set application dates – and will be assessed within 3 weeks.

There are currently four eligible projects for a fixed grant:

Holiday Hunger
Grants up to £150 to provide a Holiday Hunger Scheme for 5 or more days over the summer break, providing a main meal for school aged pupils eligible for free school meals.

Eligibility (Question 5)

  • Providing a main meal on five or more days of the summer holiday
  • Targeting children eligible for free school meals

Open the Book
Grants of up to £60 offered to buy initial start-up materials for an Open the Book team to offer primary school children an opportunity to hear the major stories of the Bible. In order to qualify for this grant churches will need to have gathered a team together, attended training (or at very least signed up for training in the near future) and have been invited to do this by their local school.

Eligibility (Question 5)

  • Team of volunteers recruited
  • Attended or booked onto training with PDE team
  • Invited by local school (Primary)

Talking Jesus Material
Grants of up to £30 to provide the DVD resource and eight supporting books.

Eligibility (Question 5)

  • Completed CDP
  • Identified a small group to trial the resources for the wider church

Mentoring Course
Up to £300 for course materials for churches undertaking training with Matrix/TLG.

  • Established initial talks with Matrix/TLG
  • Identified volunteers
  • Identified a local school

Fixed Grants are offered on a first come first served basis and will close for applications once the maximum amount has been awarded.

Medium Grants (up to £7,000 in one year or up to £10,000 over 3 years)

Large Grants (over £7,000 in one year or over £10,000 over 3 years)

Bishop of Guildford's Communities Fund

The Bishop of Guildford’s Communities Fund (BGCF) exists to reach out to disadvantaged and vulnerable people across the Diocese of Guildford in the name of Christ.

Grants are offered by the Fund to projects initiated by Church of England churches​ for a range of community projects.
