“That is why we labour and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God.”
1 Timothy 4:10
Church of England parishes claim over £80 million each year from HMRC. Thanks to our hard-working Gift Aid Secretaries, parishes across the Diocese of Guildford were able to raise over £4 million in extra income through the Gift Aid Schemes - without anyone having to give another penny.
Support for Gift Aid Secretaries can be found on the Church of England’s Parish Resources website. It is strongly recommended that you check this website on a regular basis for any new updates. General Gift Aid information can also be found on HMRC’s website.
Claiming Gift Aid
Parishes can claim Gift Aid from HMRC via a number of ways:
- The ChR1 paper form
- Online Claims
- Claiming using commercial software
Please see this checklist to assist when claiming gift aid.
Detailed guidance on making a claim can be found here.
Are your donors’ details up to date?
Gift Aid claims now require more information about the donor than previously, so you will need to check your records, and if you have more recent information regarding the donor’s name, address and postcode, then you should update this.
Have you updated the wording on any new Gift Aid declarations?
