The property department are advised on the management of parsonages
by the Housing Advisory Committee, comprising clergy and clergy spouses,
and chaired by an Archdeacon. This new edition of the Parsonages
Handbook has been drawn up under the guidance of the Housing Advisory
The Diocesan Property Department is responsible for looking after and managing 227 residential properties and pieces of land that are owned or administered by the Diocese.
Any enquiries about maintenance issues in a Vicarage or Rectory will normally be managed and dealt with through this department.
We try where possible to provide advice on property-related matters to incumbents and parish representatives.
If you have an issue about a property we recommend that you check out our HAC Parsonage Handbook (PDF). If you are still unsure about an issue then please do contact us by email or phone.
Similarly, if you are new to our Diocese or have recently become a Churchwarden we would highly recommend having a read of our HAC Parsonage Handbook (PDF) as this will get you up to speed quickly on all issues concerning a Diocesan Managed Property.
During vacancy many of our properties are rented out on the commercial market. These can be viewed through agents such as Seymour’s, Leaders and Portfolio Property. Any interest in renting any of our properties short term should be pursued through these agents.
