Jonathan Gambier

Deputy Director of Education and Head of School Effectiveness

Jonathan is an experienced school improvement partner and education adviser, who has established an excellent reputation across Surrey and beyond for his work supporting and improving schools.

Joining the Diocese from, Jonathan was previously the Senior Teaching and Learning Consultant for Babcock 4S following seven years as a primary school

Headteacher in East Surrey. Keeping pace with change in the world of education – and the continuing high demands on school leaders and teachers presents significant challenges – Jonathan sees his role as building effective dialogue with schools to provide appropriate challenge with good support to enable schools to realise ambitious goals for their pupils.

For the last ten years, Jonathan has been able to use his previous teaching and leadership experience to develop the craft of effective school improvement advice – alongside specific expertise in the teaching of reading and writing.

He says: “Nothing gives me greater pleasure than working alongside headteachers and their staff to develop effective teaching and learning practice – and seeing the impact on children’s learning in their classrooms. I always enjoy the opportunities to visit classrooms and the active engagement with pupils in their learning.”
