A set of collective worship ideas for schools (including some reflective prayer stations) based on some of the themes on the Prayer Adventure Map for families, as part of ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ from May 30th- June 9th 2019.
For ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ this year, we are inviting schools to use some or all of the materials outlined below to explore some journeys in the Bible, and the adventures of the Early Church (including Paul’s story & words that he wrote) through objects packed into a rucksack, linking with the ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ Prayer Adventure Map initiative for families. The map, being distributed to KS2-aged children for use between Ascension & Pentecost, uses stickers with a focus for family prayers, and may not be appropriate across all church school settings. The resources we have created below outline some ideas for schools to use, which can easily be adapted for any school within the Primary age range. The assemblies could be used in any order, but the suggested order follows the narrative in the book of Acts. The resources include:
- a script for the assembly leader, which includes resource suggestions and a focus object for each act of worship. It is assumed that most schools will have their own phrases for the ‘gather’ element of each act of worship, so these are not included in the script, but should not be forgotten!
