Revised Surrey Agreed Syllabus

The Revised Surrey Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education was launched in June 2017 for implementation from September 2017.

This is the syllabus used by Voluntary Controlled Church schools that fall within the county of Surrey and are in the Diocese of Guildford. VC schools in Hampshire must use Living Difference 3.

Please note that the support materials for each unit contain a lot of very helpful detail to support teachers lesson planning. View the Support Materials.

To meet the statement of entitlement for Religious Education in Church of England Schools VC schools will need to use Christianity units as their additional study units (ASUs). They may wish to use some from the Diocesan Guidelines that are used in VA schools. The chart below suggest which units may be suitable to avoid duplication of content.

There are fact sheets to support the planning of the other faith units on the KS1 and KS2 Diocesan Religious Education Guideline pages.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field;

it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”

Matthew 13:31
