The drive for excellence and effectiveness in all church schools is of paramount importance to the GDBE.
How do we work?
Our school effectiveness aims to provide services to our schools in the new school-led system. We workclosely with other partners and compliment the statutory work of the Local Authority. Our aim is to walk alongside schools, supporting them in providing high quality education inspired by Christian values, so that children may face the future with confidence.
What schools receive
Our high calibre officers and consultants, including National Leaders and Specialist Leaders of Education with a proven track record of success, bring a wealth of expertise from a wide range of education disciplines.
This provision covers the following broad areas:
- Christian distinctiveness of church schools
- School improvement, through a team of associate education consultants
- Continuing professional development for headteachers, governors, teachers and other staff
Diocesan Associate Advisors and Consultants
The GDBE commissions a highly competent team of education experts. All of our Associates have a proven track record of success and offer a wealth of experience including headship in multiple settings, and breadth expertise including NLE and SLE.
We are also fortunate to benefit from the knowledge of current OFSTED and SIAMS inspectors.
Each of our church schools has one of our consultants attached to their school to provide both challenge and support. They support the self evaluation of leaders and provide professional challenge to enhance your thinking and planning.
Diocesan Associate Consultants, Advisors and School Improvement Partners are able to support you with teaching and learning, self evaluation, validation and phase reviews as well as engaging you in professional dialogue to help solve problems and deliver initiatives.
Our consultancy ensures a non-judgemental forum for you to discuss presenting concerns and issues with you either onsite at your school or by telephone. Working in partnership with you, our consultants bring their expertise through practical and pastoral care — for you and your whole school community.
In addition we also offer the following specialist support and training from independent advisors and consultants:
- Safeguarding Children, accredited by the NSPCC.
- PREVENT and E-Safety, Home Office accredited.
These advisors and consultants provide up-to-date, accurate and comprehensive in-school training for both staff and governors.
