Potters Gate CofE Primary School

Potters Gate CofE Primary School (converted 1/12/17) is a nurturing and inclusive academy where learning is centred on a creative and aspirational curriculum and pupils aim for excellence.

The school’s family-centred and holistic approach is guided by its Christian values of respect, responsibility, collaboration, perseverance, courage, humility and contentment and staff, children and parents are valued and cared for in a safe and stimulating environment.

Strong links with the parish church and community put the school not only physically but also figuratively right at the heart of the town. A thriving ‘Friends of Potters Gate’ group raises substantial funds and also champions the school in the community and provides regular opportunities for families to come together.

Potters Gate has extensive outdoor provision, with a Forest School leader helping to develop children’s resilience, collaboration and independence as well as developing a love of learning and a curiosity and interest in the world around them.

The school has expanded over the last six years from one class to two classes per year and now has 420 pupils. The school is within the Parish of St Andrew’s and has shared leadership with fellow GST member school, St Andrew’s Infant School. Attached to the school is a Sure Start Children’s Centre, which helps to support the school readiness of children in the reach area under the age of five.

Pupils' three-word summaries:

‘God’s presence is felt here in this school.’ Katie
‘We are specialists in outdoor learning.’ Isobel
‘Everyone accepts you here, and you are given a chance.’ TJ
‘Our teachers stimulate our imaginations by taking us outside.’ Poppy
