Jane Whittington

Schools Officer – Christian Distinctiveness, RE,Spiritual Development & Christian Distinctiveness of Church Schools (M,T,Th)

The last 13 years of her career have been as a headteacher. Six years in Moss Lane Infants; six years in Potters Gate CofE Primary and a year at St John’s CofE Community School as an Interim Headteacher.

For most of her teaching career, Jane has been the RE subject leader.  Jane was involved in setting up one of the first prayer spaces in schools and is now a member of the advisory group for prayer spaces in schools.  She has been involved in developing creative approaches to teaching RE while meeting the requirements of the syllabus.

Jane also works as freelancer with the Barnabas in Schools team delivering RE days across the south east region.

Areas of Specialism:

Christian distinctiveness in church schools, Religious Education, school and parish links, affiliated schools, SIAMS preparation

Responsibility within Diocese:

Representative on Surrey and Kingston SACRE, attendance at Hants SACRE.
