Contact Claire Isherwood

 

  • Claire was licensed as Assistant Archdeacon in the Diocese of Guildford in August 2020. 
  • She was ordained as an Ordained Local Minister (OLM) at St Paul’s Church, Camberley, in 2010, until leaving to concentrate on her new role in April 2021.  
  • She first studied dentistry at Liverpool University and had a career as a dental surgeon in Merseyside, Yorkshire and North Germany for nearly 7 years.
  • Claire then changed career and took a PGCE at King Alfred’s College, Winchester, to enable her to become an infant teacher. She taught at Heather Ridge Infant School in Camberley for 11 years, interspersed with 3 years teaching at two military schools, one in Berlin and one on the North German plain before exploring ordination.
  • She finished full time teaching in her final year of training for ordination.
  • In her spare time she enjoys reading, walking with her dog, and spending time with family and friends.
  • As well as supporting the Archdeacon of Surrey by acting as his commissary where needed, Claire leads on the implementation of the new diocesan wide Clergy Mentoring Scheme which ultimately aims to offer all members of clergy in Guildford a mentor to walk alongside them in their ministry.
