Inspiring Music in Worship

05 October 2019 10:00

Address: All Saints' Church, 122-122A High St, Lindfield, Haywards Heath, RH16 2HS

A day for clergy, lay worship leaders, musicians and singers and indeed anyone interested in music and worship. This will be a practical and visionary day relevant to the worship and music of every local church. The content will be based on material from the RSCM publication Inspiring Music in Worship: A short course of guided conversations for churches with plenty of examples and resources to take away.

The day will be led by the author, Revd Helen Bent, Head of Ministerial Training for RSCM in partnership with Praxis. Helen is now working on Inspiring Music in Worship book 2 for the rural church, so she will be using exercises and samples from both books.

Inspiring Music in Worship encourages parishes to make the best use of music to enhance their worship, even when they have few resources. Grounded in real-life case studies, the day will provide an opportunity to discover new riches whilst acknowledging the tensions of traditional and contemporary forms of worship.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field;

it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”

Matthew 13:31
