Snowball effect needed for #Christmasmeans

Date: 17 December 2013
#Christmasmeans something to everyone – help us spread the real meaning this Christmas

The Diocese of Guildford will be joining people across the country using the hashtag #Christmasmeans on Twitter to spread the real meaning of Christmas.

@cofeguildford will tweet parts of the Dean of Guildford’s sermon on Christmas Eve and the Bishop of Dorking’s Christmas Day sermon to connect with the UK’s 15 million Twitter users and others across the globe. The Church of England encourages all 12,000 parishes to get involved this Christmas, joining the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby (@ABCJustin and @lambethpalace) and the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu (@johnsentamu) in saying what Christmas means. Using the site you can schedule tweets to occur during the service without having to worry about your phone during the sermon. Simply follow the link and compose a tweet as normal using the top right-hand icon and you will have an option to choose a time and date. This follows on from the success of last year’s #ChristmasstartswithChrist campaign, during which over 9,000 tweets were sent using the hashtag in the 12 hours from Midnight to lunch on Christmas Day

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field;

it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”

Matthew 13:31
