The Rt Revd Andrew Watson to be the next Bishop of Guildford

Downing Street has announced that the Bishop of Aston, the Rt Revd Andrew Watson will be the next Bishop of Guildford. Bishop Andrew, who will be installed in a service at Guildford Cathedral in February 2015 as the tenth Bishop of Guildford, will spend the day meeting staff, clergy, residents, teachers and pupils across the diocese. He will be available for interview/filming/photographs at the following locations and times on Friday 26 September: 10.30am Press conference at Church of the Good Shepherd, Sand Hill, Farnborough, GU14 8ER followed by an opportunity for the new bishop to meet representatives from the church’s innovative community projects including a children’s clothing exchange, English language classes for the local Nepalese community, a mother and toddler group and an emergency food store. Figures released by the Church Urban Fund this month rank the parish as the diocese’s most deprived. 2pm The Priory CofE School, West Bank, Dorking, RH4 3DG. The new bishop will visit the school’s new Religious Education (RE) block and meet Head of RE Lorraine Abbott and take questions from/chat with sixth form and Year 7 students about RE in schools and listen to the school’s Chants de Coeur choral group. 4.45pm The new bishop will be available on the steps of Guildford Cathedral before taking part in an Evensong service at 5.30pm.
