The election of the Right Reverend Andrew Watson as the 10th Bishop of Guildford will be confirmed later today (24 November) in a service at St Mary le Bow Church, London.
The service bestows legal title as Bishop of Guildford to Bishop Andrew (53), who will start his public ministry in the diocese in February 2015.
The confirmation of election includes a short act of worship but is largely a legal ceremony confirming that all legal requirements are in place to allow Bishop Andrew to take up the role.
Bishop Andrew’s official arrival in the diocese will take place on February 28 when he will knock on the doors of Guildford Cathedral and be welcomed in for his enthronement service.
Bishop Andrew, who has been Bishop of Aston since 2008, was announced as the tenth diocesan bishop of Guildford in September and duly elected by the College of Canons of Guildford Cathedral in October.
