Statement on St Andrew's C of E Infant School, Farnham

Date: 23 December 2015

In light of recent concerns about the future of St Andrew's Infant School, Farnham, the Diocese of Guildford is committed to securing a strong and healthy future for St Andrew’s, whilst protecting and developing its Christian character and ethos. This is a top priority and we are committing the necessary staff and financial resources to explore options with Surrey County Council and parent representatives.

The Diocesan Board of Education has considered very carefully an offer for St Andrew’s to join the South Farnham Educational Trust. While recognising the strengths of SFET, the Board decided that the distinct Christian character of St Andrew’s could best be secured by following an alternative avenue.

Current parents are now encouraged to voice their confidence in the school, and prospective parents to name St Andrew’s as the school of their choice via the online admissions process at, the deadline for which is January 15, 2016. This commitment will provide the strongest possible footing for a sustainable solution for St Andrew’s.

I do hope this little school will survive. Not every one wants to submit to the Carter huge organisation, a more intimate atmosphere suits some children. Of course there is all the history to consider.

i worked at St Andrews for 7 years and loved every minute.
