The Bishop of Guildford, the Rt Revd Andrew Watson joined the celebrations at Christ Church Cove recently as the church got a new name.
After two years of work, the official launch service of Christ Church Cove marked the unification of St Christopher's Church and Southwood Church under one roof in Farnborough.
The Revd Gemma Foster, Priest-in-Charge of the parish, said:
“The new church is a place where people can come and make friends and find authentic community.
“At Christ Church we seek to embody the message of hope that Jesus brings to everyone. So we are offering and open invite to all to come and meet us and see what we are about.”
Cove is an area of rich history, wonderful diversity, centres of technological excellence and the home to many young families and schools. The newly named Church wants to embrace, serve and attract this community to come and be part of its future.
The celebrations included stories from both church’s history including the couple who set up the Farnborough Foodbank (which runs sessions from Christ Church), a variety of styles of music from both service styles and glimpses of the future.
