Alice Early, an experienced primary school head teacher and Ofsted inspector has been appointed as the new Deputy Director for Education in the Diocese of Guildford.
Alice has led Church of England and Community schools in both the Diocese of Rochester and in Kent respectively. She has also worked as a Director of School Improvement for a Church Multi-Academy Trust and is an experienced Ofsted inspector.
Subject to the final checks, Alice will join the Education Team on 1 September. She will succeed Matthew Rixson who is leaving at the end of the school term to take up a new role as Assistant Director of Education for Educational Access, Quality and Improvement with Surrey County Council.
Alice has worked in education for 24 years, including 13 years as a head teacher. She has a particular interest in the curriculum and supporting school improvement.
The mother of two sons, Alice is a confirmed Christian and studied religious studies at school before going on to study at Royal Holloway, University of London, and later completing her PGCE at the University of Greenwich in 2001.
