Continuing our short sports ministry series, Oli Deeks, the Centre Director at Youth For Christ in Camberley, shares on an inspired opportunity. Teaming up with Ben Barnes the Youth Pastor at St Paul’s Camberley they have created a great ministry reaching out to the local youth.
“As I walked around Camberley Town Centre, I noticed they have a 'Ping-Pong Parlour', a vacant shop with table tennis open for shoppers. This gave me an idea and a potential opportunity for youth work outreach.?
Now Ben and I lead some table tennis games and coaching for young people during the school holidays in the shop. We ran sessions in the February half term and the Easter holidays. About 40 young people got involved. Some of them have even signed up for our evangelistic youth weekend away and Ben's youth club.”
