Support our communities and Walk the Wey this September

Following the successful Walk the Way sponsored walk over the North Downs two years ago, Bishop Andrew is inviting church communities, and anyone else who wishes to tag along, to join him for Walk the Wey 2023.

The last walk raised £4,300 for the Bishop of Guildford's Communities Fund (BGCF) and we would like to try and beat that this time around. BGCF provides funds for projects in parishes helping the disadvantaged and vulnerable across the Diocese of Guildford. Cook N Eat in the video below is one of the project that have benefited from BGCF’s support.

This year’s sponsored walk, which will be taking place on Saturday 16 September, will be following the route of the Wey navigation towpath with walks of varying lengths starting from West Byfleet, Send and Godalming.

“I'm really looking forward to a great day's walking on Saturday 16 September, and would love any walkers from across the diocese to join us!” Says Bishop Andrew. “The Bishop of Guildford’s Communities Fund has never been so necessary, at a time when the cost-of-living crisis is making life extremely hard for some of the poorest in our diocese, and many of our churches are reaching out to them with the love of Christ. It'll be good to highlight that work, and raise some money along the way, as we walk and talk together.”
