Research shows that transition is a stressful time for pupils. Below are materials that you can use in your church or in school to help pupils to reflect on their time at the school that they are leaving and their hopes and anxieties around starting at their new school.
We hope that these materials will help with their mental health and well-being and most importantly, will enable the pupils to mark their move spiritually.
There are versions for pupils in year two as they move from infant to junior school and year six as they move from primary to secondary school.
The materials have been written so that they can be used with pupils in community schools.
We have provided:
- Reflective activities with any templates, scripts and labels you require.
- Materials to use to create a short service
- Information on the organisation of the Leavers' Service

It’s Your Next Step is a resource for parents and carers to work through with their child as they start big school. Churches that host a pre-school or nursery often give these to the children who are moving on to big school.
It’s Your Move is a resource for pupils moving from primary to secondary school. Many churches provide these books for the year six pupils in their local primary schools.
