School Effectiveness

The Diocesan Board of Education takes seriously its responsibility for the quality of education provided by our Church of England schools and academies.

The DBE monitors the performance of all 84 Church schools and academies across the diocese, providing support and intervention when necessary to tackle underperformance at every age and stage of education.

The DBE’s School Effectiveness Strategy sets out our approach to working with partners within the school-led system to ensure that every Church school within our diocese delivers effective teaching and learning for all the pupils and students in their care.

The Diocese works closely with a range of partners on the Sub-Regional Improvement Boards (SRIB) to monitor the performance of all schools and academies across the South-East and South London (SESL) region.

Jonathan Gambier, the Deputy Director of Education and Head of School Effectiveness leads our specialist team of Associate Advisers and consultants who work closely with our school leaders and governors to ensure that we focus our resources on school improvement and raising standards.
