Faith and community leaders gathered at Willow Grange in Guildford for a Christian-Muslim forum under the theme "Better Together – Strengths, Challenges, and Local Cooperation." Organised by Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum (SMEF) Faith Links Project with the Diocese of Guildford, the event fostered open dialogue, focusing on youth engagement and interfaith cooperation.
Following a big fundraising push across local media and social media, St John’s Church, Hale is closer to raising the remaining £5,500 needed to repair its nearly 200-year old crumbling tower.
Our first ever Lay Ministry Celebration took place at Guildford Cathedral on Saturday 5 July, a service in which we honoured our Licensed Lay Minsters and our Lay Associate Minsters who had completed the inaugural two-year Foundations in Ministry course.
Just a few years ago, Leatherhead Parish Church had a congregation of 40 and hadn’t held an adult baptism for generations. Since becoming part of the Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) network of churches, and being supported by the Diocese’s Revitalisation stream, Leatherhead has gone from strength to strength.
Today (Tuesday 15 July) the Diocese of Guildford has launched a diocese-wide communications campaign to boost the levels of awareness of safeguarding risks and encourage reporting.
Saturday morning will see the diocese hold its first ever Lay Ministry Celebration service at Guildford Cathedral, as we mark the Foundations in Ministry's inaugural cohort completing the two-year course alongside the licensing and relicensing of our new and current Licensed Lay Ministers.
We celebrated 28 individuals this weekend who became the diocese's newest deacons and priests at our Petertide ordinations at Guildford Cathedral.
Today marks the start of our ordination services at Guildford Cathedral! This morning, we'll be welcoming our newest priests, and then tomorrow, we'll celebrate our deacons. Today we hear how Janet was called to ordained ministry ahead of her deaconing, with her fellow candidates tomorrow.
